Vision of K-12 students today

The video addresses the issue of the lack of technology used by teachers in the classroom in the United States.  The methods of effectively engaging students in learning are changing.  Can we as teachers rise to the technological challenge?  Will we listen to the students and heed the call to "teach them to think" by allowing them to create, analyze, evaluate, and apply what they have learned within the context of technology and digital media in the classroom?  This is a difficult call to hear as an aging teacher, yet conscience nags, and calls clearly for taking responsibility for keeping up with technology.  The video compares us educationally to China and finds us lacking.  If this continues the consequences will be dire.  We need to honor students' voices and allow them to express themselves in creative ways.  Digital storytelling is an effective way for students to create a message in pictures and dialogue.  Teachers, let's catch the vision too.
