Teaching Today #2 Meet the Press/Twitter
Social networking can be a way to express your views and get feedback from others. The advantages are that you are able to vent, but the disadvantages are that you need to wade through a plethora of comments and you could spend lots of time online with little to show for it. In terms of Meet the Press's moderator David Gregory, I read his Twitter feed and did not feel compelled to comment. I believe if students were investigating a news topic it would be a good experience for them to comment and have their voice heard. Implication and or application in the classroom might be to read a news article and then have students join in on the twitter feed. Comments made would have to be filtered for appropriateness in light of making them public.
